There is no short cut with God. When seeking success in the eyes of God, I love what the Bible says when it comes to God releasing His favor on us!
“But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” – James 4:6
Nothing trumps the reality of God’s fingerprint on your life, and knowing that He is pleased with you. Wisdom is fulfilling His expectations, not the worlds or any person for that matter.
I’ve heard it said, “opinions are like arm pits. Everyone has them and they all stink!”
I’ve learned to follow this Scripture … guarding my opinions like Fort Knox.
“2 Fools find no pleasure in understanding but delight in airing their own opinions.” Proverbs 18:2 (NIV)
When I started this 7 day series on “Wisdom”, I encouraged you to study the “Fear of the Lord” in the Bible. Life is hard. Period. Here’s how to rest content and untouched by trouble.
“The fear of the Lord leads to life; then one rests content, untouched by trouble.” – Proverbs 19:11 (NIV)
This goes along with wanting to put people in their place! God says, let me take care of them for you all I have to do is respond in love. Easy to say! Tough to do! Worth it 100%.
” 18 Don’t seek vengeance. Don’t bear a grudge; but love your neighbor as yourself, for I am Jehovah.” Leviticus 19:18 (TLB)
This one isn’t easy for me. I naturally want to put people in their place. I’m a work in progress. 🙂
“11 A wise man restrains his anger and overlooks insults. This is to his credit.” – Proverbs 19:11 (TLB)
If Wisdom is Knowledge applied, I need to figure out how to get knowledge!
In our heads, we know a whole lot, but the rubber meets the road when we apply that knowledge. THAT’s when it becomes wisdom.
So, how do I get knowledge?
Grab your Bible and study the “Fear of the Lord”.
7-9 How does a man become wise? The first step is to trust and reverence the Lord! Only fools refuse to be taught. Listen to your father and mother. What you learn from them will stand you in good stead; it will gain you many honors.
There are some things I’ve just learned the HARD way. One of those things is the principle of the rhythm of rest. Rhythm revolves around a continuous pattern.
Seasons have rhythm.
Music has rhythm.
Our lives have rhythm.
Rest is something we only engage when we reach exhaustion. In my experience, when we hit exhaustion and burn out, recovery time takes much longer than expected.
The rhythm of rest is God’s idea and His design for our weekly schedule. Your day of rest is crucial for you to … yep you got it … rest. This is our opportunity to ReCharge.
Many may say, I’ve got no time to rest. Friend, you’ve been given a command from God. Remember the Sabbath and keep it holy. Keep it pure. Keep it consecrated for … rest.
We need our leaders strong, healthy, and well rested. ReCharge. It’s God’s design.
